Form 1095-B and 1095-C deadlines extended

The deadline to file federal tax forms 1095-B and 1095-C is now March 2, 2021. The IRS extended the original deadline from January 31, 2021. We are required to file form 1095-B. Fully insured and self-insured (Administrative Services Only) employers with 50 or more full-time employees, are considered Applicable Large Employers (ALE) and are required to file form 1095-C. 

Anthem will send additional forms and reminders of IRS reporting throughout the year, following this approximate timeline:

• 1095-B and 1094-B forms for Multiple Employer Welfare Arrangement (MEWA) and Anthem Balanced Funding (ABF) groups will be posted to EmployerAccess in early February.
• 1095-B forms to all other fully insured members will be mailed through the end of February.
• Social Security number (SSN) collection: We plan to send letters to members in early spring if we do not have a Social Security number on file for them. 
• SSN and name reconciliation: We plan to send letters to members in late spring if their names, birthdates, or Social Security numbers do not match the IRS taxpayer database.
