Enteral feeding formulas are liquid formulas delivered through enteral feeding tubes and are an important part of care for members who cannot eat or digest food normally. Our plans now cover the formulas in accordance with Nevada regulations.
Policies that start or renew July 1, 2021, or later, will cover enteral formulas for use at home when prescribed or ordered by a physician as medically necessary. The coverage also includes up to $2,500 per year for specialty food products if a physician determines they are medically necessary. The benefit is available whether or not the member’s condition existed when the policy was purchased.
